'HammerTech Community Awards' - 2024 Winners

 

Now in its second year, the 'HammerTech Community Awards' celebrate exceptional leaders across HammerTech’s global customer base that exhibit outstanding approaches to construction safety. 

These honorees from across North America, Australia & New Zealand, and the UK & Ireland, marry safety with innovation – finding newer and better ways to strengthen processes and move closer to the ultimate goal of making construction sites safer worldwide.

Representing the diverse reach and impact of our customers worldwide, winners have been chosen under three categories in the geographies we serve:

Technology Excellence Award
This award celebrates leaders who champion change and process improvements, integrating technology across construction businesses to create safer work environments. These winners go above and beyond to ensure tech becomes an integral part of their safety strategy. 

WINNER - Australia and New Zealand

Peta Wilson, Richard Crookes Constructions 
Peta has been instrumental in introducing HammerTech across Richard Crookes Constructions in Australia and New Zealand – adopting a proactive approach and a sterling commitment to innovation for safer job sites. 

She is also committed to strengthening safety beyond the walls of Richard Crookes, taking the fresh ideas and approaches implemented there and spotlighting them across construction – to help move the industry forward together. 

Her deep understanding of the platform and the needs of her team has led to seamless integration – working side-by-side with HammerTech to develop custom reports and solutions that provides vital safety insights. 

WINNER - North America

Alissa Lackey, DPR Construction 
Alissa’s hands-on approach to safety innovation at DPR Construction extends beyond the office. She regularly engages with her field teams to gather feedback and adapt HammerTech’s implementation to a project’s unique needs. Known as a ‘true partner in the EHS technology space’, her passionate dedication has united her team and strengthened the broader safety community.  

Safety Ambassador Award 
This award celebrates site leaders who lead by example, inspiring project teams and subcontractors to embrace safety as a core value – day-in, day-out.  

This year, we switched up the approach to this category, inviting our customers to nominate individuals they wanted to recognize, and ultimately receiving over one-hundred submissions.  

WINNER – UK & Ireland

Conor O’Brien, John Paul Construction 
Conor’s commitment to safety at Ireland-based John Paul Construction has been nothing short of transformative. Championing HammerTech’s implementation from day one, he has constantly sought ways to enhance the platform’s use across sites. His role in advancing safety engagement by driving HammerTech’s adoption has set a powerful example for others to follow, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to safer work environments.

Mike Gloria, Power Construction 
Mike is celebrated for his technical expertise and change management skills that have been crucial in adopting HammerTech at Power Construction. His collaborative approach has unified teams across the firm, enhancing engagement with key safety programs and reinforcing a commitment to ongoing safety improvements.  

Honorable Mention - Carly Hayden, Columbia Construction 
Carly has gone above and beyond in her role at Columbia Construction, continuously improving and embedding HammerTech into the group’s safety culture. Through Columbia’s ‘Grows’ program, she has led HammerTech training for project teams and management alike, with her data-driven approach identifying key safety gaps. 

Honorable Mention - Justin Leiendecker, Blach Construction 
Justin's efforts at Blach Construction have facilitated HammerTech’s successful adoption company-wide. His customized tutorials and proactive support for subcontractors have not only eased the platform’s implementation but contributed to a noticeable reduction in incidents across projects. 

Honorable Mention - Joe Taylor, Gray Construction  
As a safety manager on Gray Construction’s first HammerTech pilot project, Joe has been a pioneer in the platform’s adoption. His enthusiasm and innovative mindset has shaped the platform’s use across multiple projects, making him a crucial advocate for HammerTech and safety at Gray.

Lachlan Grant, Hawkins
Lachlan has shown exceptional dedication during HammerTech’s trial and implementation at kiwi construction giant Hawkins. His hands-on approach ensured the platform was tailored to the group's specific safety needs, with his expertise and commitment underpinning Hawkins’ safety initiatives across the contractor’s key projects. 

Honorable Mention - Teressa Palencia, Ferrovial 
Teressa has played a vital role in rolling out HammerTech on an extremely challenging project. Her attention to detail and dedication were unmatched, and her collaboration with the HammerTech team is truly remarkable. 


Pushing boundaries and continually seeking newer ways to enhance performance and simplify safety procedures, Teressa has earned her widespread admiration for her passion for safety – in both Ferrovial and beyond. 

Safety Visionary Award 
This celebrates individuals whose leadership has redefined safety within their organizations, and across the industry writ large. These winners champion innovation, driving continuous improvement and inspiring a culture where safety is a shared priority. 

WINNER – Australia and New Zealand

Steve Walters, Icon 
Steve at contracting giant Icon utilizes HammerTech’s dashboards to present critical safety metrics and statistics to sector leaders and upper management. His data-driven insights are instrumental in supporting Icon's continuous improvement efforts, helping to identify safety gaps, and working closely with the safety team to strengthen their safety program. 

He has been a tremendous partner of HammerTech over the years – consistently pushing the boundaries of how the platform is effectively utilised in his current role.

Paul Duke, Holder Construction 
Championing HammerTech’s role in the contractor and making safety simpler and more effective for his teams, Paul is known for his collaborative and thoughtful approach at Holder Construction. Under his guidance, fostering a data-driven safety culture where safety and productivity go hand-in-hand, safety has become embedded within Holder’s DNA to create a legacy of safe practices that will resonate for years to come. 

WINNER – UK & Ireland

Peter Byrne – Conack Construction 
Peter exemplifies a forward-thinking, data-driven approach to health and safety management, boasting a clear vision for leveraging HammerTech's capabilities to enhance operations at Ireland-based contractor Conack Construction. Throughout its HammerTech collaboration, Peter has provided invaluable insights and helped tailor the platform to meet local industry standards.
